The Celebrating Age Festival
…celebrates the positive aspects of ageing and provides opportunities for older people in South Gloucestershire to take part in a wide range of fun, interesting and stimulating activities.
South Gloucestershire Council, Age Concern, the Senior Citizens Forum and Southern Brooks Community Partnership are staging the second South Gloucestershire Celebrating Age Festival, for people aged 50+. The festival will open on Saturday 18th June with an event at the Park Centre in Kingswood, and there will also be an event in Filton on the closing day (1st July). A Health Awareness day will take place at Yate Library on Thursday 30th June.
The Festival aims to have a wide range of activities and events for older people to take part in and will :
- provide a range of fun, enjoyable, informative and stimulating events for older people many of which link to ongoing activities
- encourage older people to take part in activities in their local community
- raise the profile of older people in our community
- reach a mix of older people from different communities
This year’s event includes :
Free Tai Chi lessons Days Out Workshops Dancing
Singing Internet lessons Cycle training sessions Library events
Walks Open Days Art classes for starters Healthy Eating
Social clubs … and much more
Many community groups and organisations will be holding their own event over the period of the festival. Events include trips out to places of interest, lunch events, talks, taster sessions of different activities, music and dance events.
