Asbestos awareness training

The course is designed to provide Duty Holders which could include head teachers, other senior managers, site managers, caretakers and governors, information on the management of asbestos in schools. It will explain what asbestos is, where asbestos can be found in schools, the legislative requirements and how to manage the asbestos.

Caretaker awareness course

This course is designed to provide caretaking staff with a general understanding of the health and safety issues that they are involved in on a daily basis and to identify resources available to assist them in meeting their responsibilities.

CDM training course (Construction Design and Management)

The course is designed to provide persons who are duty holders under the legislation, which may be head teachers, site managers, governors and any other staff involved with building projects, information on their legal obligations either as client, designer or contractor.

Fire risk assessment training

This course is designed to provide the responsible person in schools, which could be head teachers, other senior managers, site managers and governors, support in undertaking a site specific fire risk assessment based on the model guidance provided.

First aid appointed person course 

This is a one day course intended for staff in school who administer first aid to children and aims to highlight what are common injuries and what can be done in an emergency/summoning help, accident/incident reporting, bangs on the head, allergic reactions, epilepsy, resuscitation and many other medical conditions.

The cost of the course is £60 per person to include refreshments, lunch and a certificate valid for 3 years.

First aid paediatric course

The course is intended for staff that may have to administer first aid to children who are 5 years or under.  It is provided by Acorn Health & Safety an external training organisation and will cover choking, anaphylactic shock, unconsciousness and resuscitation of children, minor cuts, broken bones, burns, poisoning and many other medical conditions.

The cost of the course is £90 per person to include refreshments, lunch and a certificate valid for three years.

Health and safety awareness training

This course is designed to provide head teachers, health and safety co-ordinators, other managers and governors information on the key health and safety requirements, concentrating on the safety policy and risk assessments.

The cost is £70.00 per person and a charge of £40 per Governor will be charged to schools' who have bought into Governor Development Services (Please note schools' who have not bought into this service and wish a Governor to attend will be charged at £70 per person)

Manual handling course

This course is designed to provide an overview of good basic practice and make staff aware of the risks associated with manual handling. The course will cover legislative requirement, risk assessment, back safety and practical movement of inanimate objects.

Please note this course is not suitable for persons involved in manual handling of people.

PASMA training course (Scaffolding)

This course is aimed at users of mobile access towers (both alloy and fibreglass) instructs delegates on how to safely erect, move, inspect and dismantle mobile access towers, both through classroom based theory, practical sessions and an assessment. The course is recognised by the CITB and the HSE. The training will be provided by an external training organisation and will cover Health & Safety at Work Act (including Work at Height Legislation), components and hazards, inspection and moving of a mobile tower, storage and maintenance. Please note the correct footwear is required for this course.

The cost of the course is £140.00 per person to include refreshments, lunch and a certificate valid for 5 years.

Working at height training course

This course is aimed at staff who undertake work at height, i.e. use steps, ladders etc, as part of their work. The training will be provided by an external training organisation and will cover the Working at Heights Legislation and practical ladder, step ladder, etc safety. Please note the correct footwear is required for this course

The cost of the course is £110.00 per person to include refreshments, lunch and a certificate valid for 5 years.
