What is the role of a service provider?

South Gloucestershire Council's Supporting People Team has about 45 service providers that provide some sort of supported accommodation or floating support. This includes the council departments, housing associations, voluntary and charitable organisations and private individuals and companies who are contracted to deliver services in South Gloucestershire.

Each provider must hold a contract with South Gloucestershire council to deliver an agreed amount of support to the service users. The Supporting People Team must ensure that each provider is delivering what has been agreed and to a standard set by the Communities and Local Government (CLG) group. We do this by carrying out service reviews for all our providers. This process helps us make an assessment based on quality, price and strategic relevance.
