In 2002 we adopted the Equality Standard for Local Government as our delivery
framework for delivering equality and diversity and improving our services.
The Equalities Standard is a national framework that is used to assess our progress in achieving equalities on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the highest level of achievement). The Standard was prepared by the Local Government Association together with the various equalities commissions.
The standard covers 4 main areas :
-Leadership and Corporate Commitment
-Consultation and Community Development and Scrutiny
-Service Delivery and Customer Care
-Employment and Training
We have reached Level 3 and we are committed to reach Level 5 by 2010.
