User group activities

Available activities

• The youth centre provides a safe and friendly place for young people to meet
• There is a coffee-bar, arts and crafts room, pottery kiln, weight-training room, pool table, music, sports hall and a floodlit football court
• Youth workers work with the young people to provide an informal environment where interesting and fun activities take place
• Support and information is available on a range of issues that concern young people. There are also trips outside of the centre to places of interest
• The building is well used during the day time with a range of groups who use the building including the playgroup, and the 60s' club

Other services

Drug, alcohol and tobacco specialist detached youth workers

Sheldon engages with young people on the streets to provide quality information and advice to young people on the risks of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, including a focus on harm reduction. The youth worker can signpost young people to appropriate agencies and organisations whilst providing support. During holiday time he has organised and facilitated a range of divisionary projects after consultation with young people. These have included residential day trips, barbecues and drama and art workshops. There is also a detached team of part-time staff which works across the whole authority.
