A programme of accreditation and mentoring for sports and fitness orientated volunteers aged 16+. The programme continues over several months and will consist of various stages. At the end of the scheme apprentices would be appropriately qualified and experienced as assistant coaches/instructors.
The scheme starts Sunday 23rd November and places are still available.
It is compulsory that apprentices attend all of the below stages to successfully complete the scheme.
Course Programme
Stage 1 – Generic Courses (Child Protection, Equity, Game Sense (practical), Ability Sports(Practical) and Emergency First Aid for Sport
Stage 2 – Level Two Award in Community Sports Leadership
Stage 3 – Mentoring (10hrs mentoring with one of our experienced Community Sports Coaches)
Stage 4 - One session working with a group of disabled children
Stage 5 – Volunteering 10hrs at a community event
Stage 6 – Coach Development looking at future development and career opportunities
Stage 7 – Scholarship onto a Level 1 Coaching Award of your choice
Cost of Scheme
To receive a scholarship you must be a resident of South Gloucestershire or a member of a local sports club.
Cost £160: on satisfactory completion you will receive a refund cheque for £50
(Total cost of scheme per person approximately £440, savings of £330)
