Data protection

The Data Protection Act of 1998 defines a framework to make sure that personal information is handled properly. The Act also gives you the right to know what information we hold about you.
We are committed to the objectives of the Data Protection Act. To find out more read our data protection policy.

Requesting personal data

If you want us to provide you with a copy of your personal information, you have to put your request in writing. This can be by letter, email or you can download and fill in a 'subject access request' form. You must include your name and address and include a clear description of the information required.

We will respond within 40 calendar days of receiving your request. We do not charge for this.

Complaints

If you are not happy with our response, you should first of all use the council's complaints procedure. If you are still not happy, you can contact the information commissioner.
