Councillors' registers of interest

When councillors (parish and district) are elected they complete a register of interest which sets out many different types of information required by law, including any employment or business carried out by the councillor, business or property and land interests, interests in council-owned land etc.
There are also registers setting out particular categories of hospitality councillors may have received.
These registers are open to inspection at the council offices in Thornbury.
Many of the entries are handwritten. The registers are not available on-line.
In addition to the declarations set out in the registers, councillors also declare interests both personal and prejudicial in any relevant items which may be on an agenda at public meetings. If the interest is prejudicial the councillor must leave the room and take no part in the discussion and decision on the agenda item.
