On Thursday, 5 May 2011 all of the seats for South Gloucestershire Council and all of the seats for all town and parish councils within South Gloucestershire will be up for election. The referendum on an alternative vote system is also being held on the same day.
Councillors will be elected to serve a 4 year term of office. The election timetable set the timeframe for running the election. A copy is available in the 'Read more' section.
Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm and the counting of votes will take place at 29 count locations across the district on the night of Thursday, 5 May 2011.
The 2013 Review of Parliamentary Constituencies in England
The Boundary Commission for England has published initial proposals for new Parliamentary constituencies in England.
The Boundary Commission for England have the job of periodically reviewing the boundaries of all the Parliamentary constituencies in England. The current review is being conducted on the basis of new rules laid down by Parliament. These rules involve a significant reduction in the number of constituencies in England from 533 to 502.
The first stage of the review process has been completed and the consultation period for the initial proposals has started. The consultation will last until 5 December 2011.
