Bowling Green

The Bowling Green at Page Park

The much-loved park has many features and facilities including a fine avenue of trees, a clock tower and a band stand, tennis and basketball courts, football and cricket pitches, a bowls club, a children's play area, a recently installed teen play area (Teenzone) an aviary, and also a War Memorial with formal gardens.


The park also has a sensory garden which was built with funds raised by the Friends of Page Park in 2006. The sensory garden was designed with the needs of different disabled groups in mind and includes fragrant planting, a water feature and a planting structure in the shape of a boat.

Sports Facilities

Football pitches:

Page Park currently has one senior football pitches which are hired out on a seasonal basis to football clubs. Currently this pitch is at capacity and the Council has a waiting list of teams wanting to hire its football pitches for the 2012/13 season. The season runs from the first Saturday in September to the last Sunday in April with two weekends out for Christmas and no matches being played on Easter Sunday.

Cricket Pitch:

Page Park cricket pitch is hired by cricket clubs during the season.
The pitch is at capacity and the Council has a waiting list of teams wanting to hire the cricket pitch for the 2012 season. The cricket season runs from the first Saturday in May to the last Saturday in August.

Changing facilities:

The pavilion has changing rooms, showers and toilets including one with disabled access. There is also a referee’s/umpire’s room.

Bowling:

Page Park Men’s and Page Park Ladies’ Bowling Clubs hire the bowling green and pavilion during the summer months. Hire arrangements are made by the Clubs but anyone wishing to play occasional games or for information about membership should contact 0117 9499831.

Tennis Courts:

Three courts are available for occasional use by members of the public. Courts may be booked by individuals or clubs. There is a charge for booking a court. It is possible also to book use of the tennis pavilion and floodlights.

Martial Arts:

British Council for Korean Martial Arts (BCKMA) Head Tutor, Master Andy Davies, runs sessions upstairs in the main sports pavilion. The facility is a fully matted and equipped Centre of Excellence and National Academy for UK Chung Do Kwan. Master Andy Davies holds 8th Dan and is registered with the BCKMA and is accredited by OCR and Edexcel (Centre No 50141). For further details please ring Master Davies on 07598 505299
