Playaways are a ready to listen digital audiobook already loaded with your favourite fiction and they are now available from Bradley Stoke and Staple Hill libraries for a small hire charge of £1.70 for a three week loan. A Playaway doesn’t require a separate player so there’s no need for CDs, cassettes or downloads.
It’s light and compact - smaller than a pack of cards - so you can fit a whole book in your pocket. It also has digital quality sound and up to 80 hours of playing time. Just plug-in your headphones press ‘play’ and listen straight away. No technical knowledge is needed - Playaway’s user-friendly features mean you can bookmark your favourite points and control the speed of the narrator’s voice. It even remembers your place when it’s turned off.
