Toast by Nigel Slater
Toast is Nigel Slater’s story of his childhood, growing up during the 1960s in England. He describes his childhood memories, remembered by the food he was eating at the time. Some of these memories are of tragic and difficult times especially for a small boy. But the author describes the events with both humour and sensitivity. This book was a really pleasant book to read and would certainly appeal to anyone of a similar age to the author brought up on the same 1960s style meals.
