Mr Rosenblum's List

Mr Rosenblum's List by Natasha Solomons

This is a novel about German Jews arriving in England just before World War II. On arrival the refugees were presented with a list to help them integrate into English society. These include learning the English language and correct pronunciation. Mr Rosenblum expands on this list and the ultimate goal for him was to join a golf club. The story tells of his vain attempts to do this and finally his decision to build his own golf course in Dorset.

The author herself had grandparents who came to England in the 1930s and she has drawn on their experiences for this book.
