Lily: A Ghost Story by Adele Geras
Marie is 17, living with her Gran. She doesn’t know who her dad is; her mum left her when she was a baby; but Marie adores babies and knows that she wants a career working with children. She gets a dream job looking after Dr Slade’s 4 year old daughter, Amy. But as she grows closer to Amy, strange things start to happen….
Adele Geras’ story, though set in the present day has echoes of great classics such as Jane Eyre and Rebecca. It’s a Quick Read, but she manages to build up the suspense well in the short time she has. And even those of us who don’t believe in ghosts can still enjoy this gripping story.
