A Lost Wife's Tale by Marion McGilvary
A Lost Wife's Tale will resonate with most women - especially those in long marriages who often think of escaping from the routine and unhappy relationships but lack the courage. Agnes/Edith is very likeable and believable character – her dark past is hinted at and you learn snippets through present day conversation as well as flashbacks. Her escape and her life on the interstices of society, and her complexity make for a fascinating read. Marian McGilvary writes with a wonderful voice, at times bitter and lonely, often bitchy but also laugh out loud funny.
