We have good relationships with all of the institutions of higher education in our area. 2002 saw the introduction of a South Gloucestershire focus course, offered in partnership with the University of the West of England. You would be able to apply for a sponsored place on a masters degree, postgraduate certificate or diploma to develop your own professional practice.
Besides the opportunity to transfer credits from other institutions and gain accreditation for work-based learning, you can choose from a combination of study modules, jointly delivered by local education authority (LEA) and university staff, on topics such as:
- Making the difference through learning and teaching
- Leadership and management development
- Special educational needs
- Education in the early years
- The role of ICT in learning
- Independent study
- Preparation for senior management
- Maintaining headship
Following this preliminary study, you may undertake training in research methodology and complete a dissertation on a professionally relevant topic. If you are interested in finding out more about the MA scheme prior to applying for a job in South Gloucestershire, please contact Richard Swan, head of Learning and School Effectiveness, or Barbara Teale, CPD strategy manager.
