In South Gloucestershire we are proud of the partnership that exists between parents/carers, school governors and the Department for Children and Young People. We hope you will find that the information and guidance you receive when selecting a school for your child demonstrates our complete commitment to providing the best possible education for the children and young people of South Gloucestershire. We feel it is important that parents and carers make an informed decision as to which school they would prefer their child(ren) to attend.
The information contained in the admission booklets and on this website is intended to help you in the initial stages of the process. However, there is no substitute for visiting any school that you are considering. If you would like help or more information please see our page called 'Choice Advice Service'.
DCSF Consultation on School Admissions
In the Government's Children’s Plan published December 2007, Ministers committed to review the school application and allocation process. The DCSF (Department for Children, Schools and Families) recently launched a consultation which outlines proposed changes to make the admissions process for parents as fair, transparent and straightforward as possible and would welcome your views on the proposed changes. The consultation runs for 16 weeks and can be found using the link under "Other Websites" on this page.
