The Department for Children & Young People hold a small amount of money to be used for parents with pupils at school within South Gloucestershire who are in financial difficulty. We only have a small amount of money for these grants. We have therefore had to enforce strict criteria for the allocation of clothing grants and school uniforms.
The criteria are:

- In receipt of Income-Based Jobseekers Allowance (IBJSA) or
- In receipt of support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act of 1999 or
- In receipt of child tax credit, but not entitled to working tax credit and your annual income (as assessed by the Inland Revenue) does not exceed £16,190
In addition one of the following conditions must apply:
- There has been a fire, theft or flood
- Homeless families - for example parent leaving home due to domestic violence
- Medical condition - for example obesity, extreme growth, child with enuresis or soiling problem
- Bereavement - loss of a parent
- Conditions of extreme poverty - such as situations where families are at risk of being made homeless, high debts etc
- Reconstituted families - like where a child returns to live with one parent having lived with the other and financial difficulties arise (child may arrive with no clothing)
