The council is writing to service users and carers to explain and ask for views on proposals to change the way people receiving services should make financial contributions to them in the future. The Fairer Contributions Policy is about everyone making a fair contribution to the support or services they receive.
We are introducing a new way of supporting people by telling them how much money there is available to support them and then giving them the choice of how that is spent to meet their needs. This means that they can either have a direct payment, or they may choose to ask us to provide a service for them, or a mixture of the two. To ensure fairness, we need to work out people’s contributions on the same basis.
A questionnaire will be sent out to collect views on the fairer contributions policy and so that we can fully consider what this means. If you would like to complete the questionnaire, please visit www.southglos.gov.uk/fairercontributions
The deadline for responses is Friday, 27 January 2012.
You can view a copy of the current fairer charging policy and the department of health’s easy read fairer contributions guidance in the “Read more” section on this page.
