Training to be a Volunteer

In order to become a Volunteer you need to undergo some training. This is essentail for you to be covered by the insurance which is provided by the national initiative.

The training is provided in two ways, firstly a half day theory session with our in-house trainer and secondly, we pair you up with a mentor (one of our existing volunteers) to get some 'on the job' practical training.

We also like our Volunteers to be first aid trained, with training provided by staff at Frenchay Hospital and St.John's Ambulance. All costs are covered by Walking to Health.

Once you have been through this process you will be given your Volunteer pack which contains; a training manual, first aid kit, clipboard, whistle and tabard. You will then be fully equipped and ready to get out on a health walk!

You are also provided with a folder of all of the walk routes for your chosen area. This will include a map and written directions for each walk in that area.

Watch this space for upcoming training days.
