Travel Training Project

South Gloucestershire Travel Training project works to support people with learning difficulties to become independent travellers. This involves supporting people to gain skills in road safety, using public transport, learning to be safe in the community and what to do if something goes wrong.

The project also supports some people with learning difficulties to become travel buddies so that they can support others to learn how to use public transport without support.

Since the project started 57 people have learnt how to travel independently on 75 different bus and train routes.

This year £3,000 LDDF money was awarded to the Travel training project to pay people with learning difficulties as travel buddies so that they can support other to become independent travellers.
