Health and social care

People walking
The council respects and values the contribution that older people make to the community and we are committed to supporting the independence and wellbeing of older people and other vulnerable adults in South Gloucestershire.

We provide either directly, or through voluntary and private providers, a range of assessments and services to help people live independently and, wherever possible, in their own homes. If this is not possible we arrange for alternative accommodation in either sheltered housing schemes or a specialist residential or nursing home. There is also support available for carers – people who look after the elderly or vulnerable.

It is a key responsibility for the council to provide services matched to people's needs, in order to help people to have the help they need.

Assessments

So that you can get a service such as home care, you will need to have an assessment.
