Project Description:
The Siston Attenuation Pond is a flood storage reservoir which was constructed as
part of the advanced engineering works for the final phase of the Avon Ring Road
(Stage II). The site is rural in character, situated within the Green Belt, on the edge of Warmley
Forest Park and with lovely views towards Warmley Church spire.
LC worked in partnership with South Gloucestershire Council’s Engineering Consultancy to devise a scheme that not only fulfilled the drainage requirements of the new road but also created an attractive pond, an amenity for local people and a valuable wildlife habitat.
The landscape scheme:
- Created framed views across the sloping fields to the spire of Warmley Church.
- Provided native woodland and shrub planting of wildlife value and infill planting to improve existing mature hedgerows.
- Involved the lifting and relaying of existing species rich sward on the freshly cut slopes.
