If you are evacuated to a rest centre please be aware that facilities for pets will be very limited and rudimentary – this increases the importance of you providing an adequate pet carrier and bedding for your pet. Pets will be housed separately to their owners. You will not be allowed to bring your pets into the communal areas, but you will be allowed to have access to your pets, as you will be expected to care for them. We are unable to supply the following to please make sure that you adequately provide for your pet:
- Pet Food.
- Medications.
- Bedding.
- Transport cages or carriers.
- Litter Trays and Litter.
If you have no alternative but to leave your pet at home, there are some precautions you can take, but remember that leaving your pet at home alone can place your animal in great danger! Confine your pet to a safe area inside (if flooding is expected, move your pets upstairs) - NEVER leave your pet tied up outside! Leave them loose inside your home with food and plenty of water, bedding and a litter tray – it may take some time before your pet can be recovered. As soon as you get to a place of safety, tell us about your pet and provide a phone number where you or a contact can be reached as well as the name and number of your vet.
