Planning Policy Statement 25 (PPS25) Development and Flood Risk (Communities and Local Government 2006) is about positive planning at all levels to deliver appropriate sustainable development in the right places, taking full account of flood risk. A key part of managing residual flood risk as outlined in Annex G of the policy is the production of flood warning and evacuation plans.
To support the policy the Department for Communities and Local Government issued a Planning Policy Statement 25: Development and Flood Risk Practice Guide. Section 7 of this guide covers residual risk and part of the management strategy are flood warning and evacuation plans. Section 7.25 provides specific guidance, while figure 7.2 provides suggested content for the plans.
To assist developers with the production of these plans the Emergency Planning Unit has produced a template which can be downloaded and completed which covers the key areas suggested in the guide. The Flood Emergency Plans (FEP), as required under PPS25, are the sole responsibility of the applicant and South Gloucestershire Council will not accept any responsibility for any omission or error contained in any such plan, or for any loss, damage, or inconvenience, which may result from implementation of any such plans. The document itself can be downloaded via the 'Read More' section.
