Emergency planning

Emergencies can happen anywhere and at any time and they can take many forms. Fortunately major emergencies are rare. When they do occur, the size of the incident means that organisations need to work together to respond as quickly and efficiently as possible. The Emergency Planning Unit works closely with all council departments, the emergency services, voluntary agencies, private industry and other specialist organisations to achieve this.

We also:

  • Provide advice and guidance on emergency planning issues
  • Prepare the council's response to major incidents
  • Meet statutory obligations relating to emergency planning legislation
