South Gloucestershire Local Plan

Planning Portal

The South Gloucestershire Local Plan sets out the planning policies for the area up to 2011.

The plan was adopted on 6th January 2006. In February 2006 we were served with a high court challenge relating to Policy H12. This challenge was heard in April 2008 and dismissed.

Please note that the following policies expired on 6th January 2009 - Policies L6, L19, T10, T11, T13 and H8.

History of the plan

Drafts of the South Gloucestershire Local Plan were published in November 1997 and September 2000. The Revised Deposit Draft was placed on deposit in June 2002. Objections to the plan were considered at a Public Local Inquiry between June 2003 and September 2004. The Inspector's Report was published in November 2004 and formally considered by the Council in March 2005. Proposed Modifications were published in May 2005. Representations to these modifications were reported to the Council in November 2005. No further modifications to the Local Plan were proposed.

The future

The Local Plan will be replaced by the Local Development Framework over time as new Development Plan Documents are produced and adopted by the Council.
