Last year’s Comprehensive Spending Review heralded a significant reduction in the amount of government investment available for social housing in the period to 2015.
In October 2010, the Department of Communities and Local Government issued a consultation paper called ‘Local Decisions: a fairer future for Social Housing’, inviting responses by 17th January 2011. This document along with Council’s formal response to the consultation can be found in the 'read more' box on this page.
The majority of the proposed changes are intended to be put in place by local authorities under Strategic Tenancy Policies within a year of enactment of the Localism Bill (i.e. during 2012). The Council will be consulting on a draft Strategic Tenancy policy in due course.
