What is HomeChoice?
HomeChoice is the name of the Council’s Choice Based Lettings Scheme, the way that we let social housing in South Gloucestershire. This service is designed to be a more straightforward system of prioritising applicants for housing by placing them in one of three bands. It is now simple for customers to judge their level of priority in comparison to other applicants.
HomeChoice will enable South Gloucestershire Council to give a clear picture of property availability and feedback on how popular individual properties and areas are, giving customers more choice and control over where they live.

When you have registered and we have sent you confirmation of your application details, you will be able to express an interest in properties that are suitable for you. What is HomeChoice West?
All four Authorities in the West of England Partnership - North Somerset Council, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council run Choice Based Lettings Schemes. We have now set up a sub-regional scheme, which is called HomeChoice West and launched on the 22nd March 2010. This scheme is designed to make it easier for you to move to other parts of the sub-region. If you are already registered with HomeChoice, you do not need to do anything else. However, if you want to bid for properties in any of the other Partnership areas, you must register separately with them. You can access their websites by clicking the appropriate link under ‘Other Websites’ on this page.
Each Authority has a local connection policy. At the moment, this can affect the banding awarded to you if you do not live in, or have any other connection to that Authority, for example, if you do not have a close relative in the area, or if you do not work in the district.
For any property advertised as part of HomeChoice West (initially 5% of available properties), we will change the way we assess your local connection. If you have a connection to one of the partnership areas, we will assess your application as if you had a connection to the area you are applying to.
