BoME Liaison Group

South Gloucestershire’s Community Care and Housing Department and NHS South Gloucestershire’s Black and other Minority Ethnic Group (BoME) was set up in November 2002; its key aim is to identify and eliminate barriers for people from minority ethnic communities.

The group works to encourage and empower people to access services and to ensure that adult Health and Social Care services meets peoples culturally appropriate needs

The group meets every 2 months and membership includes representatives from:

  • Local black and other minority ethnic community groups and organisations
  • Voluntary organisations
  • NHS South Gloucestershire
  • South Gloucestershire Community Care and Housing

In November 2006 the group hosted an event 'Your Say Matters' which explored a wide range of issues and concerns. From this event the group developed an action plan which identified changes needed and how these would be achieved.
