The Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) is a programme supporting the fitness industry to become more inclusive- catering for the needs of disabled and non-disabled people, as well as raising physical activity participation levels. If you are a disabled person looking for an inclusive gym near you or visit the web link to the right of this page for facility search.
The model is built around developments in four key areas:
•Accessible facilities
•Inclusive fitness equipment
•Staff training
•Inclusive marketing and engagement strategies
The customer journey begins from the moment a member arrives at a facility, therefore an initial positive experience is vital to ensure member retention.
All IFI Mark sites must meet a basic criteria for accessibility which are assessed by experienced access auditors.
Facility accessibility is not limited to the initial access of the building, but covers fitness related services, changing areas and catering provisions. The operational management of a site's policies and procedures are also assessed to ensure total inclusivity and accessibility.
