Time for a Change

The results of the final activity survey of 2007-2008 are now available!

We surveyed all 2,367 people of all ages who declared that they were taking part in fewer than three sessions of thirty minutes per week of moderate physical activity at the time of joining our scheme during the past year.

1,680 now report that they are achieving at least three sessions of thirty minutes per week (outside of school where applicable). This can include walking, swimming, cycling, gardening, playing games in the park – anything which raises the heart rate above resting level!

142 people are not quite there yet but they are still trying! A further 545 people have not yet given a response but we are still trying to contact them!

And the activity continues into a second year and beyond…

There so many ways to stay active! During June, for instance, a new family orienteering club began in Yate and then there is the ‘Spot the Sports’ family cycle challenge! That’s in addition to the many well established activities, both formal and informal, going on all over South Gloucestershire!

Read on to find out about the new family clubs springing up in South Gloucestershire schools and a young person’s spirited efforts to encourage his local community become Active for Life and so much more!
