Time for a Change

Here are the results of the final activity survey of 2008-2009...

Many different partners are working together to encourage more people to become more active more often. The Active Partnership in South Gloucestershire has the challenging aim of increasing local participation to foster an Active Mind in an Active Body by merging leisure and cultural services. The Active Partnership members include:

Community Sport and Active Lifestyles, Food and Health, Libraries, SureStart, the Leisure Trust, and a host of volunteer clubs and societies.

 Physical activity includes almost anything that raises the heart rate above resting level e.g. walking, gardening and informal play as well as more traditional sports and fitness activities.

In the past 12 months....
We aimed for 2000 new participants to be physically active in South Gloucestershire and nearly 4000 have achieved this.

This means that those 4000 people declared that they were insufficiently active at the start of the programme. But now they are physically active 3 times a week in the following types of activity amongst others:
 * Active cards at leisure centres
* Intergeneration Clubs
* Walking the Way to Health
* Sure Start Centres
* MEND
* British Heart Foundation Active Clubs at Brownies, Beavers, Scouts etc
* Gentle Exercise at Retirement Homes
* Exercise Referral Scheme for patients referred by medical professionals

Please see our Active for Life page for ways you can get active in South Gloucestershire.
