Ask a Busy Person
Have you heard the saying: “If you want something done - ask a busy person?”
Well, it certainly applies to Active for Life member Dawn Lewis!
Dawn combines caring for her husband, Ernie, who has Emphysema, with an active lifestyle. Ernie is Dawn’s number one priority and they enjoy a game of Pitch and Putt together at Warmley Golf Course or Ten Pin Bowling when Ernie’s health allows. Dawn also realises the benefits of making time to look after herself.
“It’s lovely to get out and talk and laugh,” she says, after a swim or a game of badminton at Kingswood Leisure Centre. “It relaxes me and I feel fit, alive and able to get on with everything.”
Dawn was the first person to complete the Active for Life Bingo Challenge. Although she was already busy with a variety of activities such as gardening and walking, she found that Active Bingo gave her the incentive to try other activities; for instance, she planned a walk for her granddaughter and, despite living in a bungalow, went out of her way to achieve the required quota of stair climbs.
Having an active mind in an active body, Dawn also attends painting and arts and crafts clubs.
