The council is responsible for three cemeteries in South Gloucestershire in which burials are taking place.
Mayshill Cemetery |

This cemetery is located off Badminton Road between Yate and Coalpit Heath. It was established in 1973 and is the most recent cemetery provided by South Gloucestershire Council. It is a lawned cemetery providing an infants section and a pea gravel area for cremation plots. Standard rose trees can be planted by the headstones, although placing and planting on the grave area is not permitted. |

Filton Cemetery |

This cemetery is located off Coldharbour Lane in Filton. It is a traditional gravel cemetery established in 1947 providing areas for denominational burials. There are also cremation plots located in a pea gravel area. |

Mangotsfield Cemetery |
Westerleigh Road Downend South Gloucestershire BS16 6UY |
This cemetery is located off Westerleigh Road in Downend. It was established in 1850 and is the oldest of the open cemeteries maintained by South Gloucestershire Council. The cemetery consists of a traditional area and a lawned area. The lawned area is often chosen because of its simplicity. It provides for infant and Roman Catholic burials as well as an area where cremated remains can be interred. A small chapel is situated within the grounds of the cemetery which can seat approximately 50 people. |

Closed cemeteries
The council is also responsible for the upkeep of some closed churchyards. All other churchyards are the responsibility of the local church.
