Youth awards and accreditation

Accreditation is a way of recognising young people's achievements in informal settings such as youth centres. It is a way for young people to show that there is more to them than what they are formally taught in school. They can show what they are good at - perhaps that they are good at organising things, football, photography, volunteering, commitment, perseverance and that they have certificates to prove that other people agree with them, including nationally recognised bodies.

Accreditation is designed to get young people's skills, knowledge, personal development and contribution to their communities recognised.

South Gloucestershire Youth Service offer different awards, all nationally recognised:
  • The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
  • The Youth Achievement Award
  • The Youth Challenge
  • ASDAN short courses
  • South Gloucestershire Award
  • The E-Safety Award
