Corporate parenting

paper chain

South Gloucestershire looks after approximately 180 children who are unable to remain in the care of their parents. When a child becomes 'looked after', the tasks of their parent become the responsibility of everyone working for the council and elected members of the council. This is known as 'corporate parenting' and it is the collective responsibility of the council to provide the best possible care and protection for children who are 'looked after'. As a corporate parent we should act in the way we would if the child were our own.
