What we do
The fund provides additional resources over and above those provided through statutory mainstream services. Services are provided to help children and young people grow up to:
- be healthy,
- be emotionally secure and confident,
- succeed in school,
- stay out of trouble,
- live in a safe place and have the opportunity to succeed in achieving their dreams.
The Children's Fund operates with three key principles:
- Prevention - to address the gap in preventative services for children and young people at risk of social exclusion by providing increased and better co-ordinated preventative services for 5-13-year-olds and their families
- Participation - the voices of children, young people and their families are at the heart of the Children's Fund, with children and young people being involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of the programme
- Partnership - to take responsibility at local level for the delivery of the Children's Fund's Plan, involving partners from the statutory and voluntary sectors, community and faith groups, and ensuring that the views of children and young people are represented
The work of the Children's Fund services contributes directly to the delivery of the six charter areas for children and young people in South Gloucestershire and the single plan for children and young people for 2005/06 and beyond. As the local authority and its partners move towards developing a local area agreement, the work of the Children's Fund services will be an important factor in delivering the children and young people's block of the local area agreement.
