Kingswood - a Sure Start Children's Centre

Welcome to Kingswood Sure Start

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Kingswood Sure Start Children's Centre.

The centre is operated by a friendly team of workers that can offer support and assistance to parent/carers of pre-school children (0-5). We also have resources and an information service available for you to access; please speak with a member of the team for more information.

Parking - there is parking offered next to the Sure Start Centre however, this can get full quite quickly during morning sessions due to parents dropping their children off at a near by school. There is parking also offered on Hollow Road but again this can also get quite busy.

'Stay and Play'

Stay and Play aims to support parents with their child's physical, social and emotional development through providing a range of fun and exciting play activities.  We are available to parents and families to offer support and information on a wide variety of area, e.g. childcare provision and work opportunities.

Stay and play sessions are available at the centre on the following days:

Thursday 9.30 - 11.30am
Friday  1.15pm - 3.15pm 

Stay and Play Plus

This is a session that is held for referral families who need extra support:

Tuesday 9.30-11.30am

Dads Group

For Dads and Male Carers with children 0 - 5 years!

We provide lots of fun activities from messy play and crafts, to soft play and outdoor fun.

Held on the first Saturday of every month 10.00-11.30am.

Baby Grow Postnatal Group

This is a group for mum's with their babies from six weeks of age and runs for six weeks 1.30pm - 2.30pm from 31 January 2012.

Kingswood Breastfeeding Group

Support and advice sessions on Breastfeeding run by Laura Watkins, Community Nursery Nurse and Mary Dalziel Sure Start Team Leader. This session takes place every Thursday afternoon 12.30am - 2.00pm.

Childminders' Group 

Two Childminding Groups run by Childminders and support from Sure Start.

Monday- 9.30-11.30

Peep (Peer Early Education Programme)

This is a group for Parents/Carers and Children aged 2-3.

Mondays 1.30pm -3.00pm - All parents and carers welcome

Baby Time Tuesdays

This is a drop in session for 1st time mums with babies aged 0-8 months in the Kingswood area. Providing the opportunity to meet other mums and babies to socialise whilst finding out about play, learning and development. 

Tuesdays 3.30pm - 4.30pm

Baby Massage

Baby massage is a five week course to help support bonding between parents and their baby, reduce restlessness thus helping with sleep this may also help reduce colic and constipation.  Please call to find out when the next course is running.

Information and Advice Sessions

All Sure Start Centres within South Gloucestershire now offer families with young children and information, advice and guidance service. Our Family Information Advisers can help you find out about local services and community provision, such as library services, toddler and pre-school groups, local childminders etc. We have information kiosks in every Children’s Centre to help you find out about health services, training and jobs, debt advice, benefit entitlements and much more.
