Children, young people and families

Family group
We believe that all children and young people in South Gloucestershire have a right to enjoy the best physical and mental health. We have a legal duty to protect them from harm and neglect, to make sure they feel safe and to offer support to parents and carers.

If a child or young person needs help we are here to provide a range of care and support services to meet their specific needs.

As a parent or carer you know that you have one of the most difficult jobs - but both rewarding and challenging. We can help you with advice and information.

And for children who have experienced trauma, from small babies to teenagers, we help to place them with foster parents who can provide a secure and protective environment in addition to care, kindness and stability.

**For schools, education and higher education (including student support) information visit 'Learning and Skills' in the menu at the top of this page.**
