Trading standards - for businesses

Trading standards officers undertake regular inspections, investigations, test purchases, surveys, verifications and sampling to ensure compliance with a wide range of trading standards legislation. Where necessary, serious contraventions are reported, which can result in legal action being taken by the service against the trader/individual.

If you are in business in South Gloucestershire and the goods or services you provide are sold to the public, it is likely that we can help you comply, with advice on trading standards law that applies to you.

We also act as Home Authority for businesses that have their base in South Gloucestershire, offering advice and guidance and serving as a point of contact for trading standards officers in other areas of the country.

The headings below will hopefully give you the information you need, but if not, then click on the 'contact us' button to find out how you can reach your local trading standards department.
