e-procurement

To improve processes, save money and offer better information to local businesses, we are introducing electronic methods of purchasing and procurement – otherwise known as e-procurement:
  • e-purchasing - we have already replaced our paper-based ordering system with an electronic system
  • e-payment - the majority of our payments to suppliers are made electronically
  • Purchasing cards - these cards, sometimes called procurement cards, have been issued to staff for purchasing certain types of goods, usually either from local trade suppliers or internet sellers. A purchasing card account is also used for all purchases on corporate contracts

What does e-procurement mean for suppliers?

  • Receiving orders – suppliers must be able to receive orders either by email or by fax
  • Getting paid – we prefer to pay suppliers electronically via the BACS direct credit service. This is a much safer and more efficient way than sending cheques in the post. All we need is details of your bank account
