Food alerts

Hazard warning triangle

Food alerts are released by the Food Standards Agency as a way of letting people know about problems associated with food. They fall into two categories:  food alerts - for action and food alerts - for information.

Action

The action we take depends on how severe the alert is. It may include:

  • Circulating the information to the food and health team
  • Issuing a press release
  • Contacting premises by letter or in person to remove certain products
  • Visiting premises to remove food
